  • Pieces of metal from my b series transmission

I was draining the mtf and i've caught metal pieces and shaving with my blox magnetic drain plug. When i drained the mtf i didn't see any brass shavings. So i took pics and want you guys to see where it's coming from. It appears to be 1/2 second synchro sleeve, correct me if I'm wrong. 2nd gear was hard going into.

i'm a tech but i don't have enough time to tear it down. i'm pretty sure it's a synchro sleeve. just wanted to get your guys take on it. my best advice is to get the tranny built right and not miss any gears haha.

the metal shavings are normal wear over time.

yes folks a magnetic drain plug is highly recommended. you can go with other brands too but i went with blox tran/oil pan drain plugs.

yeah, those look like chips of gears, not synchro material. correct me if i'm wrong, but synchro material would be brass, that looks like pieces of hardened steel- aka teeth. does the car make any clicking noise in any gear?
