I have a few questions in really need answers too before i can move foward with this swap.
1) Me and my boy r dropping a jdm obd2 Gsr into his 98 ex. I know I have to use the ex harness. We have the harness installed on the motor and I had to wire in the Intake Air Temp sensor with a spare plug I had because the two connectors were different. The IAT sensor on the ex engine is on the plastic intake tube and the harness has a square connector for it. The IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor on the Gsr is on the top crest of the intake manifold and the sensor requires a round connector. Now I have a spare harness for parts. I cut the square connector off the ex harness and wired in the round connector I used off the the spare harness and it plugged right in. Both connectors were 2-wire. This is the correct fix right?
2) which is probably most important. IABs!!!!! Under the Gsr intake manifold by the oil filter, there is a canister with a solenoid. My research tells me this is my IABs (the thing that controls my butterfly valves on the Gsr intake manifold). I really need to know how to wire this in so I don't have poor performance or a CEL. I have a obd2a p72 ecu. There is also a fifth plug where the injector plugs are on the harness. Does this plug have anything to do with the IABs or can I just leave that disconnected or do I have to delete it? I really need this working. Someone please help me!
3) the crank position sensor. There is a plug for it on the harness but I have a jdm engine so there is no sensor. Do I just leave the the plug alone? My ecu is jdm so will my ecu even send a code being as the motor never had a crank position sensor and the ecu is for that motor? If I have to add the sensor, how do I do it? (I think i have to add a usdm oil pump right?)I want to do this swap legit as possible and I will add this sensor before doing any bypass tricks. Sorry. Don't trust the tricks. Do it right the first time.
