motor cutting out

  • motor cutting out

    this happened to me a couple of times in the last few months...

    when i would be flooring it in 5th gear for a decent amount of time the motor will cut out and i would have to push the clutch in and pump the gas for it to come back and theen it would b fine

    any ideas...its a b18b1

    At what speed? Only in Fifth gear? The Fuel Cutoff/Speed Limiter maybe?

      happened to me too dawg well something like that but try this change the spark plugs and wires

        maybe the fuel pump is heating up and cutting out

          well i wasnt goin all that fast like 95..i dont recall it happening in any other gear

          i got new plugs im about to put them in,wires a fairly new

          i was only in the car for about 5 min when this happened..i did notice that the car was running hot b4 it happened and then was fine but i didnt notice it it was cool b4 or after it happened

          and thanx for ur imput guys

            i was in the car with him last night when it happened, started over heating prior to jumpin on the highway but cooled down to about half the gage by the time we were gettin on it. stayed cool the rest of the night

                sounds like the water pump is on its way out...thats for the overheating part...as for it cutting out, check plugs and wires...if that doesnt help check resistance to ignition control module. my da used to do that because the icm kept overheating and burning out.

                  It could be your water pump, but i'm a little skeptical about that. My B18B1 use to overheat like that, then cool down when I got on it. I changed my thermostat, flushed the radiator system and put all new antifreeze in it, an never overheated again. As for cutting out, I have not ran into that problem. Sorry.

                      yeah my integra does the same thing, im not to sure what it is. but my spark plugs are whitish so i figured thats lean and i just changed my fuel pump and filter. havent tried it yet though cuz i need a transmission.. anyone have one????

                            ok guys im still having a problem....a few days last week when it was hot i would get into my car after work and try to start it and its not getting fuel...after a few minutes of tring to start ity my battery would die cuz i need a new one and as soon as i put cables on the car it would start up fine

                            could a bad battery have ne thing to do with the fuel pump not staying on
