  • Someone help, 92 gsr sounds like an air compressor when vtec hits

    Okay so i started getting a air hissing sound from my exhaust and a loss of power, and when it does it you cant hear exhaust noise at all, just pure air coming out of the exhaust and no acceleration or power, if i let it sit it goes away, but as soon as i hit vtec it starts again, its the craziest sound i ever heard, never seen anything like it, Only change i made was a tuned ECU, a p28 tuned on chrome for a b16, cams, and intake manifold, i have a b17 stock with exhaust and intake, the ecu has 2 step, vtec at 5200, fuel cut at 10k and richer air fuel mixture.

    First thing I did was a compression test, 190lb even on 1, 2, and 3, 4th cylinder hadd 200lbs, so all cylinders are above recommended specs, so w.e the hell it is it aint the head gasket, i was thinkin valves at first but with good compression idk now, anyone ever dealt with this???

      x2... or if it happend after u put tuned ecu in try switching back and see if that changes anything

        No it was such a loss of power I couldnt go over 5 MPH lol, i figured it out though, it was a clogged cat, punched it out and did 130 on the highway, shes good now :) thx guys

                listen mannnn def aint a ricer haha, and the cats on vtec motors always clog quicker because of the oil. Esp when u have 260k miles HAHAHAHA

                      It was, 440cc i think it was, bigger injectors and intake mani, so you think the extra gas killed the cat? im boutta get a retune on friday, cause after the new ecu felt like i lost about 10 horse lol

                        and 2step at 6k is worthless, sounds like a rev limiter and tires just spin, whoever had the ecu must have had rotas with slicks

                          if your running a cat thats your problem. Its starving the engine. Once your up to temp the cat clogs it self.
