  • Need help

I have a 2000 civic with an ls swap that im having trouble passing emmissions with. Its throwing a code because of the ecu. how can i get it to pass. Its throwing a code because im running a jumper harness and the car wont read for emmisions cuz the jumper but i plugged in a obd2b ecu and it reads but its a vtec ecu so it throws a code asking for vtec and at like 5 grand the car chokes. Im only using that ecu to run emmisions. My question is, is their any way to manipulate the ecu to thing that there is vtec??? so the ecu stops looking for vtec... Sounds confusing but any info would help.

Okay. Let me see if I understand. You car doesn't have Vtec, right? But you installed a Vtec ECU and the CEL turns on since there is no Vtec, right?

Why don't you just get an OBD2B non Vtec ECU borrowed for a couple of minutes?

I think that's your only way to pass emissions. And yes you could trick an OBD2 ECU with a emulator but it will cost you a lot. Another thing you could do is get an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness and with a chipped ECU a tuner could solve that problem but you either said something about the conversion harness is not helping because of the plug or something.

So look for anyone who let you borrow this non Vtec OBD2B ECU or if there is no DAMN Honda/Acura HELPER HERE IN THIS FORUM get it rented from anyone here then if they are so cheap that could not even let you borrow this for a couple of minutes.

If I have it I would let you use it but I don't. Sorry.

      Apply it!

You have to run a obd2 ecu. With a jumper/obd1 your car can't comunicate with the computer to run emissions. Either get a obd2b p75 or get a non vtec single cam ecu. Also if you have a vtec solenoid laying around plug it into your vtec plugs on your harness. And see if the cels go away. Someone told me it will work like that but I don't see how as it wouldn't sense any oil pressure. But if you have one laying around it's worth a try.
