You need to do a leakdown with a leakdown gauge and air compressor, not a compression test.(if possible)
You can still get decent readings on compression tests with bent valves.
(This isnt directed at you because I'm not sure how you did it, this is just for the guy's who might not know)
You need to make sure the # 1 piston is at TDC (top dead center) when you install the new belt, you also need to make sure the cams are in the correct rotation, this means you not only line up the line's on the cam gear but you also need to make sure the cam gear's up mark is actually up.(if using oem cams you can use the pin/center punch holding method)
I have also seen guy's leave too much slack in the belt in between the crank pully gear and the exhaust cam, so when they pull the pin/center punch out thats holding the cams at TDC ,the crank spins to remove the slack, this will put you off a tooth at the crank.
