Im guessing that it could be the ICM or anything associated with it. The most likely cause being the crankshaft position sensor. This has happened to a couple of my friends jeeps and my gsr once. Same exact problem as you. Hope this helps

if the firing order was off you would still get spark just at the wrong cylinder, pull the distributor cap off and test volts at the + side of the coil blk/yel wire. you should read close to 11-12v. if not replace 15a fuse under dash not sure which one it is check your fuse panel

yea i was thinking crank sensor ... b/c the obd2 jdm motor doesnt have one ... and the usdm p72 requires one.. i tried the CKF trick too that didnt help soo i ordered a jdm p72 that doesnt look for one ... ill see what happens when i get it ... as far as fuses everything is good .. i have 12.48 volts at the distributor i tested all my grounds to the battery they are all good and tight even cleaned them all off..soo ordered the ecu this morning and i should have it by friday i appreciate all the help

the car is a 98 the motor is a jdm gsr (96) both are obd2a .. i would just use an obd1 but car is due for emissions lol ... which sucks soo i must use all obd2a... the ckf trick is just taking c1 and splicing it to c4 and then cutting c1 after the splice... and then c11-c14 and cutting c11 after the splice ... if im not mistaken ... ive never had to use it before but i tried and still no luck .. it must be my ecu ... i got it from someone saying it was good but it very well could be bad
