  • Boosting a GSR

So I've been thinking of boosting my GSR for some time...my goal would be around 250-300whp low boost daily...any recommendations on parts? Anyone have a similar set up? Also I've been doing research and have heard an LS is alot better to boost because of its lower compression....Idk what kind of turbo to go with..I would prefer one new..and would most likely go with a turbonetics t3/t4..3" exhaust...tial waste gate...mishimoto intercooler..custom piping...and a custom manifold..not sure what injectors or fuel pump....also I was wondering if it was worth getting a rebuilt LS tranny instead of the stock GSR one because of its longer gear ratios..anyone against that, why? lol Also a clutch and flywheel recommendation...arp head studs? any feed back would be appreciated..my motor is stock basically with a few bolt ons

A decent turbo kit and a good tune. It's really all about the tune aslong as you have the parts to back it up. I remember jdmjuni's coupe had like 220whp i think and it was a stock ls tuned by dave. Some guy loacl use to have a turbo'd gsr stock internals and had i wanna say 330whp from what I was told and it ran mint. Was fast and reliable. I'd do arp head studs because some setups under boost the head begins to lift. But plenty of people on here are all about turbo's so im sure someone can give you a good list. Just stay away from ebay ram horn manifolds they always crack.

yeah i've heard about that, thats why I would go with something real good or a custom one..also would the stock timing belt be ok? lol I want to make sure its reliable..I don't mind spending money upgrading certain parts...I just changed my timing belt and water pump in September..would the stock motormounts with a insert be ok?

I'd prolly recomend changing ur thrmostat to a lower temp one, i've heard of people needing to do that. If I was you i'd try n piece something together thats ac/ps compatible since it'll be your DD so that it's comfortable to drive still. As for mounts im not sure really. You'd have to ask someone else. If you replaced your timing belt in Sept then it should be fine still.

i don't mind removing the powersteering, but the AC is actually coming out soon because I don't use it lol, its extra weight plus less stress on the motor. Ook i just changed the thermostat too lol, but changing it to a lower temp one doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. Also would a hondata s300 really be necessary..lol again i don't mind spending the money..put if a chipped p28 on chrome would work just fine..then i'll go with that

A chipped p28 on crome would be fine. I'd just go with a basic log manifold I wouldn't go with some crazy shit because your power goals are low so you don't need anything too serious.

get 750 rc injectors walbro 255 fuel pump aem fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator, upgrade ur timing belt water pump head gasket and all that dont want nothing going wrong also i would change the intake manifold gsr intake manifolds are trash and get a good turbo boost guage install it all and i rather go with hondata than crome i think crome is trash and depending on how healthy ur motor is you should make 310 on 10 pounds of boost with a 3 inch exhaust no cat flowmaster 3 inch muffler sounds real good and quiet also

corey r is where its at for the manifold...
depends on your price range though
                        Honda sucks. Over priced junk.

gsr is way to go for stock turbo.. my friend had a bone stock on pretty much a greddy turbo setup with upgraded turbo (gt28r) and intercooler. made a little over 300 which would be plenty for your DD. you need to pick a turbo thats good for you and your power goals. also arp head studs you should deff look into. its all in the tune as well
