That's pretty cheap might go that route.. and yeah both metal pieces are on there.. did you talk to you boss yet bro?

its prolly either the bushings (if u replace them do polyurethene by the way) or it might be the u joint piece..same thing happened to me and it was both

So its the actual shift linkage not the tranny? Can you send me a pic of the bushing your talking about?

right behind the pin you have to pound out the is a knuckle with bushings in it you cant really see the bushing but you will see a revit holding it all together it is warn out inside there. if you go under the car and have some one wiggle the shifter you will see what i am talkin about. it hapens to ALOT of them.

you have to grinds off the revit and replace the bushings and then bolt it back together.
