CEL after oil change

  • CEL after oil change

    today i did a oil change (royal Purple) everything went as planned besides that stubborn ass filter ,when i started the car it was good but then i look at my dash and my check engine light came on. it doesn't run or idle any different what could cause this????

      only thing i could think of is if ur O2 sensor is in ur header right under the filter and oil dripped onto it. And even that i dunno if that would fuck it up. try reseting your battery and see if that works.

        Uhh.. use a paperclip and jump the connector near the passenger side kick panel(ECU location) to check the code yourself and go from there.

            nah i know wat o2 senser ur talking about and nothing got on to it , im gonna try to reset the battery tomorrow

              check the code and find out or jump it.. o2 only thing i can think of either

                Yea, disconnect the battery and bypass the entire technical aspect of the actual MIL.. that's smart.

                How about you figure out what it is, do some research to determine if it's serious... then clear the code by disconnecting the battery. Don't be lazy. It would probably take less time to figure out the code with the paperclip than doing what you plan.

                  i like his answer better unplugging the battery is doing nothing but turning of ur cel on ur dash its the dummy way out the realy way is to plug in a scan tool and pull the code most likely in your situation should be something simple cause it not normal that a cel pops up after a oil change
