Help my car wonnt start

recently my car was broken into and someone TRYED to steal it but they faulted but know the car wont start, it wont even crank . my ignition looks all banged up like some tryed to put a flat head to ,my key fits fine and i have full power to the car , what could it be ??????

maybe its a wired on the back of the switch or check the wire for the starter
