no they aren't. Only b18b, gsr, itr, b16 oil pumps are the same. Not b18a.

Not to steal someone else thread but I just bought a 00 teg ls and I'm planning to do a ls/vtec build. Heres what I'm thinking of getting so far.
                  B18b1 ls block
                  Acl rod/main bearings
                  ctr pistons/ rings
                  aftermarket ls rods (crower,eagle,manle,etc)
b16 head..I'll buy all the head goodies later
                  GE ls/vtec kit
                  arp rod/main bolts
new oil pump, water pump, timing belt
I think thats it for now... Let me know if I may be missing something. Oh also if I were to use a GSR/Type R head would I need to run Gsr/ Type R pistons?

Aftermarket rods don't mate to OEM pistons.

So then I should stick with the ls rods? What other OE rods can I use that may be beefier than ls one? Also do I have to do anything for the head so that the pistons don't hit the head and screw everything up? Thicker head gasket?

ya ur best bet is to go with a gsr block it way less complicated ull save ur self alot of time with just getting the gsr bolck an putting in an ls crank.
