  • b20 vtec help

the guide would help first of all, ive heard nothign but good from b20 vtecs besides the sleeves, i wanna do an all motor setup, do i need to resleeve it? i wanna do 12:5:1 comp, eagle rods, should i get a forged crank too? and build a b16 or gsr head to the max? i wanna put out around 230 240 to the wheels in a hatch, and maybe down the road go to the track and spray but be reliable enough to daily drive. and what can i rev these motors to 8400krpms like gsrs? and have tuned on a p28?

you don't need no sleeves unless you trying to bore it out, and if you do don't bored to 86mm you always want to leave some meat in there in-case shit happens. and one more thing... parts don't make power (well not all of them) they just support it. You don't need the biggest bore, the biggest stroke , the biggest cam, and highest compression.

GSR head, some bcIIIs and 11.5c/r and some rod bolts will get u there. now how all them parts come together... that's where the power is at.

              p.s. I don't know shit, i'm a part swapper lol

be careful on stock b20 sleeves, i just opened up my b20 vtec and had 3 cracked cylinders running 12.5:1 compression all motor....now mind you the shit still ran, just smoked a bit but idk how much longer it would have made it

stock sleeves hold power, they don't hold pinging, now you know where to start pointing your fingers to.

i only ran 93 in my car, and i didnt have any signs of detonation, i think the person who built it ran the piston to wall too loose to be honest, the rings didnt seem to break in properly.....but thats what happens when you buy engines from other people, its part of the game, just sharing my personal experience, take it for what its worth

^ true.. but octane is not the culprit, spark plugs never lie, if you listen to them stuff like this never happens
