b series oil pumps are not the same. u need a b18b.gsr/b16a itr pump
the b18a pumps are not the same.
in my ls/v im running a oem gsr pump with gsr water pump and belt.
my car makes 80 psi oil press. under boost and 25ish at idle. this cracks vtec like a whip.
check your oil pressure. i think 40 psi is the minimum in order for vtec to engage properly.
if oil press is good pop off the dolinoid and check the creen for schmeg

if they are all the same then wy is it common practice to ditch the pos b18a oil pump when building an ls/v....
i ran an ls/v with a b18a oilk pump and spun rod bearings not even revving it past 8k. i ran another ls/v right after with a b16a oil pump and never did it again. ive heard many stories of the same thing happening to others
