  • GSR Intake manifold swap

I'm planning on getting an intake manifold for my GSR. Yes I heard some stories about the swap. It's a b i t c h to take out the stock intake manifold. I also heard about having to change the throttle cable (DC GSRs). It's either the LS or Type R throttle cable. I wonder if I can still use the same throttle cable...I seen some that use the same throttle cable on Honda-tech and I believe he must of re-mount/re-route the throttle cable.

I want to get the Blox intake manifold. I heard Skunk 2 and Blox have the same distributor. I've seen on HT arguing about which they prefer and it's 50/50. I've seen quite a few magazine featured cars having Blox IMs. That 490 whp green EK on D sport using Blox IM is convincing enough for me. Basically people are paying a bit more for Skunk 2's name, same difference.

Well I would like to hear some tips and pointers on what to do.

Oh yea when I get it done, the IM will be up for grabs.

its not to bad to do.....just tedious u dont have to change your throttle cable cause your not changing your throttle body, the cable mounts to the throttlebody on a gsr

I took a look and it doesn't seem that bad. I see to bolts thats holding the GSR IM. I know I would have to get under there and take off the nuts under the IM (Since it's a GSR).

mmmmmm... don't drown in a cup of water buddy..:p

make a new mount for the cable:
          1. small sheet of metal.
          2. an edge to bend the metal.
          3. a hammer to smash the sh*t out of the metal in order to bend it.
          4. a drill and a bit to make holes.

he doesnt need to make a mount for the cable.....hes not changing the throttle body only the mani........ on gsr's the cable mounts on the thrttlebody, not the mani.... which means he doesnt need to change it....

As long as I have a couple of guys for an extra hand, we can definitely get it done. It don't seem that bad like stories I heard from HT and other folks. When I get it done, I'll let the people know about the process.

Can I still use the same IM gasket? Or do I have to get a new Hondata IM gasket?

Most likely the old gasket will break off. While you are there I don't see why not upgrade.

Once I get it, me and my boys are going to get it done and definitely give our feedback on it.

it's not too bad just the bottom bolts are hard to get to. you'll need sum coolant cuz wen you swap em you'll leak it. And also im not sure but it might have a bracket to the intake mani to the block...not sure if it does but make sure to un-bolt that before you try and take it off.
