  • LS/Vtec no spark

my friend and i just finished puttin his ls/v together and into his car, he got the car as a shell and the engine in pieces. we got the engine together, got it in the car, and it doesnt start. we have never had a running engine in the car, so really the problem can be anywhere... we have narrowed the problem down to him having NO SPARK at all. so far we have tried....
    2 different computers, no difference,
i have swapped in a whole known good dizzy,
double an triple checked firing order. still no spark at the cap.
i have checked the thermostat housing ground
checked every power and ground into the ecu, and the 5 volts to the map sensor, everything there is good.
i have 12 volts on the fat black/yellow wire (power into the dizzy)
the dizzy housing has a good ground off the engine.
the block and tranny grounds are both good.
the ecu and backup fuses are good, every fuse related to the alternator/pgm-fi were all checked and verified anyway.

we still have to check all the dizzy sensor wires for continuity to make sure theyre all reading correctly, but does anyone else have any ideas? this is driving me nuts because i know its gonna be something really stupid.

our last resort is swapping the body harness for a known working on, im tryin to avoid rippin the whole dash out to do that but if this thing has no spark by sayturday that may be what we have to do.

I know this might be a little too obvious, but what about the timing belt? im assuming your friend purchased a new timing belt for the build, but if he didnt it could have snapped and this would easily cause no spark.

yea its a brand new belt and theres no timing cover so it would be very obvious if it was no good, but thanks for the input, its really prolly something that obvious that im just missing

damn that sux. I hate when shit like that happens. Weird since you changed ecu's, and dizzy's. gotta be a wiring issue somewhere.
