So I have a 4 channel rockfrod amp in my car and am only using 2 channels. I have a really bad ground loop that happens all the time, I installed a ground loop iso. but it is still present. Also when I put a meter onto the battery leads with the battery disconnected the resistance goes up to about 8 mega ohms and then starts to go down like a cap is being charged...it is killing my optima yellow top within 3 days. Any ideas?

Well a ground loop isolator aint gonna do shit if something is inproperly connected. are you runnin the rca's on the same side of the car as power wire if so put them on the other side you will catch engine noise. and as for the battery going dead if you are using a cap charging them incorrectly will cause them not to perform rite. the battery going low messes them up i have seen them explode people say they cant i will attest to that trust me. one of the cells in your battery can also be bad they are basically isolated internally and i've seen them go bad and people go crazy tryin to figure out the problem. well i hope this help's you a lil bit if not keep posting or if not stop by the crib i'm always here to help bro g/l..860 member #18

Not to thread jack, But whats the deal with the engine noise? My shit whistles whenever my car is running and if I rev it up it gets louder, if I tune the lights on it gets louder as well. My rca's are on my drivers side. My power wire is in the trun with my battery. But my power wire from the battery to the fuse box/starter is on the pass side along with my remote wire. Any idea's? I re grounded it to all over the place and no change. Shits driving me nuts and it's prolly something stupid lol.Money ain't a thing! Crew Member #1

My rca's are run up the middle of the car. I don't have a cap with the stereo, I was thinking the capacitors inside the amp were chargin continuously while the car was off hense the reading of resistance starting at 8M and then falling slowly. I think my yellow top is shot, I think I've had it for 2 years :( The whistle is a ground loop. It can occour from having a bad ground or signal being induced into your audio signal somewhere (like from main power). Thanks for the help!My work: Flikr.

There are a couple ways to try to get rid of engine noise. Move RCA's away from power wire. If you have to cross a power wire and a rca cross them + like that. Another thing you can do is re-secure your ground make sure there is not paint on the surface. Ground the radio where the amps are ground. Try not to use Isolators, They are Band-Aids. if anyone has any questions PM medamn they keep deleting my shit!!

i guarntee 90% of people with engine noise own a pioneer radio.

Really? So pioneer rca's have bad grounds? Do you do that for both sides or just the right? Also my head unit and amp are grounded to the battery (figgured that would help clear up the whir and my chassis is an 89 so it has some rusty ground spots), same with the main power. My work: Flikr.
